Who We Are: The Story Behind Signal of Lincoln

Last Updated: October 21, 2026

The short answer: Signal of Lincoln is a locally owned security company based at 1921 S. 17th Street in Lincoln, Nebraska, owned and operated by Troy Nielsen since September 2024. We provide mobile patrol, dedicated onsite officers, armed security and event security for businesses, healthcare and senior living communities, student housing and property managers across Lincoln and southeast Nebraska.

Why We Do This Work

When I took ownership of Signal of Lincoln in 2024, the goal was simple. I wanted us to be the security company Lincoln businesses could actually count on: officers who show up on time, do the job the same way every shift, and tell our clients clearly what happened on their property. In our industry, reliability isn't a bonus. It's the whole job.

Locally Owned, and It Shows

We're not managing accounts from another state. I stay hands-on with our clients, and our leadership team works directly with our supervisors and officers every week. When a client calls, they reach people who know their property, their staff and their expectations. That closeness is the biggest difference between a local team and a national provider.

How We Work

Clear reporting. Officers document every shift with structured reports and photos, so clients see what we saw without guessing.
Defined roles. Our officers observe, report and follow each site's escalation procedures, so the right people on the client side hear first, every time.
Visible patrol. Our patrol vehicles keep moving and stay visible, because a car that's seen is a deterrent.
Armed and unarmed options. We staff both, matched to what each site actually needs.
Officers who grow. Every officer has regular check-ins with their supervisor and a development plan, because people who feel invested in stay longer and do better work.

Who We Serve

We work with technology, media, healthcare, assisted living, student housing, property management and event clients in Lincoln and nearby communities, including Ashland, Beatrice, Crete, Nebraska City and York.
